CARE & RESPECT - Beautiful Old Couple
ALWAYS be aware of people who pass you by on your many travels.
Even if you are tired, hungry or a bit cranky,
remember to smile and say hello.
Some you might know; many you might not know. A
friend, a stranger, a lost traveler, we are all humans, with our own
destinations.
But a friendly greeting may change the course of
history.
Even curiosity might get you a cat, or bag you a bat,
so to speak.
Every man has a story to tell, a yarn to spin and a
tale for sale.
Here is a wonderful love story for krismas. I have left it the way
the teller tells it because of the way it impacted his life. I hope it does
touch you in the most wonderful loving Christmas way.
Picture & Story by Stanley Watinga (Edited by Albertis Photography)
I was repairing my puncture at Waghi Bridge Tyre Service (Western Highlands
Province) & I noticed this very old model Toyota land cruiser open back
calmly signalled in.
As I was admiring the durability of the truck
& anticipated to see the driver/owner of the vehicle to give credit
especially on how he managed to look after the vehicle thus far.
To my amazement, I noticed this beautiful old
couple. I could not resist but to ask them for a photo shot.
The driver replied this after tapping his
partner; "Ya piksa timba enem kana" (look this way, he is trying to
capture us).
They both smiled as I proudly took the shot. We
had a little chat and this is what they told me;
"This truck was our first purchase and have
driven it ever since. From this truck, we have managed to purchase others ,
paid school fees as well as provided food on the table and it is still helpful
to this date."
One thing they said that blessed me was, and I
quote: “If you look after things with care and respect,
trust me son they will last."
I agreed on spot without any doubt whatsoever as
their concept obviously manifested in their relationship as well.
Because I was fortunate enough to have learnt
something from them, I helped them with their puncture as we part our ways.
Young Stanley, who took just a minute of his time out of curiosity, to learn an important life lesson. |
Sometimes you will find people in the most unusual ways, in the most unfamiliar places. Let your curiosity be aroused. There is nothing wrong with curiosity if it is going to enhance a friendship, build you a new relationship, embolden your imagination and instill in you a new grain of respect.
Knock on
the door of knowledge. Be sanctified by the acquaintance of an elder. Behind
every gray hair is a yarn, behind every wrinkle is an aged old laughter of innocence.
Let them
tell their stories. And let them share their ideas. History wakes with them,
history walks with them, history will one day sleep with them.
After posting this on social media, of the many who responded
to the post, the granddaughter Becca
Dos Kewa wrote: Just speechless and heart breaking seeing this beautiful captures of my two most loving ,
understandable, and caring grandparents.
#MoreLikeMyParentsThenGrandparents . The car is 20 plus yrs now, it has been
very handy for as long as I can remember, growing up, panga mangona people use
to say to me and my grandpa "tupla battrii yet kam" when they see us
drive by I miss him so much, both of them. Thank you so much for sharing
this, it means a lot to me..
So there
you go, the old man is Dos Kewa of Panga Coffee and his old lady Atta. A hard-working
man and his equally supportive old wife.
This Christmas, remember a little bit of love and respect for your loved ones can make the occassion more special ❤.
