A former
primary school teacher in Chimbu Province has created a website that will help
teachers to access their current postings online.
Ben Ninkama,
28, from Gumine district, said he has a keen interest in website design without
a clue in computing but his dream came to fruition.
According
to Ninkama, he was a primary school teacher for four years and was then accepted
to further his education studies at Divine Word University while teaching in
2014.
“I have completed my studies for four years with diploma and masters in education. However, I was inspired by two computer science students from my place while studying there.
"They once thought me how to create website and from there I started playing around with the coding and was really passionate with how it works.
"I got myself
deep into it while on campus and after the completion of my studies and became
lecturer at Nazarene teachers college in Jiwaka from 2017 to 2019.
"I started my PhD studies in e\Education at the University of Goroka last year but I recalled my past days as a teacher and the struggles we used to encounter.
"I hope
accessing teaching postings online could be a solution to many problems we
usually face as teachers. What I did is for free as a way of helping the teachers
and giving back to my province,” Ninkama said.
He explained that he was using note pad and note edition to create and convert them to webpage.
“Since it's a free version, you are only allowed to type the
web address http://simbutrsposting.orgfree.com on Google search button
using your smart phones to access the posting list in pdf file. You can
either read online or download and read offline,” Ninkama said.
Meanwhile,
he said the posting or other files can be accessed with word search after he
registered the website with any internet service providers.
“But in the
meantime, you can still assess the posting using the web address given,” he said.
