SIR PHILIP WELCOMES NAME CHANGE to MARA HAUS
He is a knight.
As a man with the title Sir infront of his name, he carries with him a sense of royalty and dignity.
It is the Queen that accorded him membership to her exclusive club.
He is one of the few remaining knights of her royal enclave in the highlands of PNG.
Therefore Sir Philip Kapal is hardly ever ticked or offended by events outside of his courtly realm.
The former premier of Western highlands was speaking this week after Western Highlands and Jiwakans took to social media to vent their frustrations over the changing of the guard at the WHP Headquarters high-rise building in Mount Hagen on Feb 02, 2022.
On the occasion of the 80th birthday of the first premier of Western Highlands and Jiwaka, Sir Nambuga Mara, Western Highlands Governor Paias Wingti announced that the administration building name is now changed from the former Kapal Haus to Sir Nambuga Mara Haus or Mara Haus for short.
It seems this raised a hornets nest with commentators calling it an insult to the 73-year-old former premier, Sir Philip Kapal who is from the new neighbouring province of Jiwaka, which split from WHP in 2012.

However, Sir Philip, who attended the 80th birthday party of pioneer premier Sir Nambuga Mara last week, said he welcomed the decision because he has plans to etch his own name in history in Jiwaka.
"I played my part as premier of Western Highlands but I am now a Jiwakan man.
"I worked so hard with my brothers (founding fathers) for a new province and we have it now.
"I respect this decision (for name change). Sir Nambuga deserves recognition. He was my kingpin for Western Highlands.
"I am happy for him and wish him good health and longevity.
"As for me I want to work with my people to make the Jiwaka dream come true. That is to build a model province.
"God has used my body for his glory in Western Highlands. He will use my body again to create a model Jiwaka.
"I have always wanted to build a twin tower in Jiwaka.
"It will be the third in the world, exactly like the one you see in (movies) New York City and Kuala Lumpur."
So there you have it, from a powerful knight and a gentleman.
A true leader, we repect you for accepting this with great humility and pride. The decision was very bad and shameful to the whole of WHP.
