The Boroko police station

FIX OUR ROOF PLEA FROM TRAFFIC COPS

Boroko police station getting a facelift but the traffic office is still waiting.

THE National Capital District Police Traffic Unit is raising concerns over the deteriorating office they have been using since 2019.

They said they first sounded the alarm then to authorities but never received feedback to date.

Officer In charge (OIC) Senior Inspector Joseph Salle told the Post-Courier that they have been occupying the office building which was damaged in 2019 when a company opposite the Police Station working with a crane dropped a iron metal onto the building and causing huge damage to the office and property costing more than K30,000.

Snr Insp Salle said they were shocked to hear the loud bang when the iron fell onto the building roof.

“It’s been a while since the damage was reported but nothing had been done to fix the destruction to the office building and property,” he said.

“We had written a report to the company responsible and the Police Administration but received no feedback.”

Snr Insp Salle said they have been waiting for three years now without any response.

“We are also under-resourced and lack manpower to carry out much of our work, and that is to enforce the traffic rules and regulation as far as road safety is concerned,” he said.

The NCD Police Traffic Unit is in urgent need to carry out its duties.

Snr Insp Salle said they need help to renovate the office block and building that houses traffic officers.

Business houses, individuals and organisations that are willing to help can contact the NCD traffic office at Boroko.
