DR LIKO SAYS YELLOW CARDS ARE FREE
By GRACE SALMANG
YELLOW vaccination cards for
international travel are issued for free.
Health Secretary Dr Osborne Liko has
appealed to the public to report anyone found to be selling the yellow
International vaccination cards.
Dr Liko issued the warning after
receiving reports that the people are being paid for the issuing of yellow
cards.
“The yellow cards are processed and
issued for free by the Health Department, and signed by the Secretary as the
licensing authority,” Dr Liko said.
“Anyone found to be soliciting money out
of the yellow cards must be reported to National Department of Health.”
Dr Liko said the people travelling
overseas are required to produce an international vaccine certificate upon
arrival in most countries.
“In PNG, these are yellow cards which
are issued based on a person’s green vaccination card that he or she has been
given upon vaccination against COVID-19,” he said.
“Anyone found abusing the system by
obtaining this green card through unscrupulous means will be penalised as well.”
To get an international vaccine
certificate (yellow card), you need a valid passport and your PNG (green)
vaccination card.
Email copies to intvaccinecertificate@gmail.com or visit the National Department of
Health Office at Aopi Centre, Port Moresby, to get your yellow card.
Anyone found charging fees must be reported
through writing and the Department of Health will deal with the officers
appropriately.
