There have been changes at the Central Region Command of the Bougainville Police Service, enabling a second female officer to be elevated to the post of acting Regional Commander.

Inspector Lynette Bomai has been elevated to head the command in Central Bougainville, after her predecessor, Chief Inspector Spencer Aili was moved to the Police Headquarters in Buka, where he too will take up a new post as Superintendent Operations.

Inspector Bomai was formerly the Police Station Commander in Arawa Town prior to her elevation.

With her elevation another new appointment has also been made for the Police Station Commander's post which Inspector Bomai has left behind.

Incoming officer, Inspector Terry Guambelik, has been appointed to the post of Arawa Police Station Commander.

Inspector Guambelik joins the BPS from Port Moresby, where he's being transferred.
The appointments of Inspector Bomai to the Central Regional Command and Chief Inspector Aili to Superintendent Operations will remain on acting basis, until such time when the Royal PNG Constabulary Headquarters at Konedobu confirms them.

Effecting the changes on Wednesday in Arawa, Chief of the Bougainville Police Service, Deputy Commissioner Francis Tokura (pictured), says he's pleased with the changes he's recommended, which has now allowed the top hierarchy of the Bougainville Police Service to have senior ranking commissioned officers to cover vacant spots where they should.

Mr Tokura says, there are still vacancies in senior positions at the Police Headquarters in Buka, which include that of Director Community Policing and Director Human Resources.

With these latest changes, DC Tokura remains confident that the Bougainville Police Service is ready to deliver security for the national election, starting with polling on Monday July 4.

The current hierarchy of the Bougainville Police Service is:

1. Chief of BPS - Deputy Commissioner Francis Tokura
2. Deputy Chief of BPS - Assistant Commissioner Naua Vanuawaru
3. Acting Superintendent Operations - Chief Inspector Spencer Aili
4. Director Corporate Services & Regional Legal Officer - Chief Inspector James Pius
5. North Regional Commander - Inspector Jacklyn Pais
6. Acting Central Regional Commander - Inspector Lynette Bomai
7. South Regional Commander - Senior Inspector Pritchard Hukambari
8. North (Buka) Police Station Commander - Inspector Emert Tsimes
9. Central (Arawa) Police Station Commander - Inspector Terry Guambelik
10. South (Buin) Police Station Commander - Inspector John Popui
11. OIC Regional Training - Chief Sergeant Herman Birengka

The Bougainville police service is now currently on deployment for the National General Elections all over the region from polling all the way to the counting to the return of writs.
