There is always a Way Out
Words & Picture By Steven Umaru
The lights of hope have shown upon the
pathway of success as Vagi Boge and Geua Inogo walk into the white building
owned by Latter Day Saints Of Jesus Christ down at Konedobu next to the Central
Provincial Government. Their arrival at the hall began a new
chapter in their lives through life skills trainings.
And their desire to learn new skills and
tap into the business and entrepreneur world has touched new heights and
settled their ever thinking minds. Thanks to the church partnership program
between PNG Life Education institute and Poreporena Circuit of the united
Church of Papua New Guinea in making dreams come true for the youths of today.
Twenty four year old Vagi Boge and Geua
Inogo 27 are both from the big village of Hanuabada in the National Capital District and have made it a must to be in the second batch youth empowerment training
among other 28 young people also from the motuan village.
The first batch facilitated by PNGLEI was
run earlier this year targeted at empowering youths through life skills
trainings both in business and self reliance.
Both Vagi and Geua had a share each in the
past engaged in other areas of work mostly volunteer and in the mission field.
Vagi graduated in 2019 from Badihgwa
Secondary school and since he not make it to other institutions he was back at
home but this did not keep him from taking steps in life. After leaving school
at grade 11, he was heavily involved in church work. At the same time the young
Hanuabada lad, committed his time to taking up Religious Instruction at his
former school.
“I feel I had to go back to my school and
teach religious education there, it is like giving back to my school through
what I have and know,” said Vagi.
Vagi also volunteered for a one year stint
with ‘Equal Playing field’ an NGO working with schools doing awareness on
gender base violence and other social issues.
On the other hand, another youth from the
motuan village who was on a mission work after education shared her experiences
while on board the YWAM ships delivering medical services to rural villages in
the country and reaching them with the Love of God.
The Hanuabada las said, it was good to work
on the ships because of the volunteer work helping village people with medical
care at clinics and aid posts.
“The work on the ship took me to
Bougainville, Rabaul, Lae-Morobe, Alotau, Popondetta and in the Central
province.”
“I learnt a lot and I strongly believe
there is always hope and a way out for those who have faith, the foundation is
God”, said Ms Inogo.
Both vagi and Geua have expressed their
gratitude to Mr rai Gini for the trainings and the partnership with the
Poreporena United Church to up skill the young people in Hanuabada and central
province in the future.
“We are learning new things and gaining
skills in relation to the business and self reliance courses and our message to
the other youths is that, never give up as there is always hope”.
