Central Bougainville Candidate Eastern Kasika Kirupana
By PETERSON TSERAHA in ARAWA
THE youngest of all the Bougainville candidates contesting these years’ national elections has vowed to bring development and fight corruption.
Eastern Kasika Kirupana is part highlands of mainland PNG and Central Bougainville.
He is the youngest of all candidates in Bougainville, at age 33 and is vying for the Central Bougainville open seat.
He graduated as a biochemist in
the University of Papua New Guinea and came
straight home and contributed by volunteering in doing community work.
He then
joined World Vision and was a main FORCE with his other colleagues to implement the
WASH project in Central Bougainville.
Kirupana
was the project officer who started introducing hygiene clubs in at least 50
schools, where they installed WASH facilities like toilets in selected
communities, started improving sanitation, then water supply came in as well.
“For us
Bougainvilleans who are aspiring for Independence, it all starts at the
community level then it goes up to the political and leadership level,” Kirupana said.
“If given
the mandate as a young man I represent youths of Bougainville, our future and
political journey is in the hands of us the youths.
“I stand to shape a new way, I stand to fulfil our dreams at the national level, as a young man I ran projects all over Central Bougainville in two years,” he said.
“I will still stand with my main aim and vision and that is to bring in more
development and weed out corruption.
“I
personally see that more projects need to be implemented at the community level
and if I get in that is what I intend to do for my people of Central
Bougainville.
“First of all I will fight for our way forward at the national level and I will also run awareness campaigns and even prosecute whoever is corrupt.”
